What is momme in silk and what is a good quality?
Momme (mm) is the unit that measures the density and quality of silk. The higher the momme, the stronger and more durable the silk. For sleep masks and pillowcases, 19-22 momme is considered the premium standard. Below 16 momme, the silk is thin and wears out faster. The PurelyGoods mask falls within the premium range.
How long does a silk sleep mask last?
With proper care (hand wash, do not tumble dry, protect from sunlight and perfume), a mulberry silk sleep mask will last an average of 2 to 4 years with daily use. Common wear and tear: the elastic band stretches out sooner than the silk tears or discolors.
How often should I wash a silk sleep mask?
For daily use: wash the mask every 2 to 3 weeks with a mild silk soap at a maximum of 30 °C. If you use face creams or serums just before bed, wash it more often, every 1 to 2 weeks. Do not wring or tumble dry, lay flat to dry out of direct
sunlight.
Can I wear a silk sleep mask with eyelash extensions?
Yes, silk is actually the most recommended fabric for eyelash extensions. Its smooth surface doesn't pull on the lashes, unlike cotton or synthetic fabrics which can loosen them. Choose a mask with a slightly curved shape so that the fabric does not directly touch the lashes.
Do silk sleep masks help with dark circles?
A silk mask does not directly reduce dark circles, which are associated with genetics, lack of sleep, and pigmentation. However, silk does indirectly lead to improvement: less friction and better moisture retention in the skin can reduce redness and swelling in the morning. For visible improvement of pigmentation-related circles, a specific dermatological treatment is more effective.
What exactly is mulberry silk?
Mulberry silk is silk produced by silkworms that are exclusively fed
mulberry tree leaves (Morus alba). This diet results in softer,
longer, and stronger fibers than regular silk. Mulberry silk is known
as the highest quality silk and is most commonly used for luxury
